The team at B.S.B. (Sound) Ltd are deeply saddened to report that our founding director and company father, Elwyn Bickley passed away in hospital on Wednesday 15th of September surrounded by his family.
Elwyn founded the company in 1969 as a leading manufacturer of heat, rail and control electronics. Since then the company has evolved and we have seen numerous valued members of the team under his flag.
Elwyn was a master of many things. He built his own TV – from scratch – to watch the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. He made his own radios and built many more electronics. He even designed the switch which turns on the Market Drayton Christmas Lights (It’s not fake, we promise).
Elwyn was the driving force behind what we know today to be the prominent name in outdoor public address. Martin was inspired by his Dad and in turn inspired more to follow. Building year on year, with little time for holidays or leisure, he created a beast to rival any other.
The team today are immensely proud to have worked for Elwyn. We are grateful and honoured to have been a small part of his life. His legacy will live on through our company and we will miss him dearly.
Rest in Peace Elwyn
We would love to see as many friends, customers and colleagues as possible at his funeral at St. Mary’s Church, Market Drayton at 10:30AM on Friday the 1st October.
We ask for family flowers only, but donations to Charity would be gratefully received. We have a book of condolence on our trade counter on Llewellyn Roberts Way and we would love to hear your memories of our dad, friend and colleague.
