As part of ongoing upgrades to the racecourse, Chester have unveiled a new rooftop bar area where spectators can enjoy the best view of the paddock and the winning line. This ultra classy space needed discrete but effective sound coverage.
Chester asked us to make the speakers as invisible as possible – and while of course this is a challenge when trying to design a system for maximum coverage and clarity, we jumped at the chance to integrate Martin Audio CDD series loudspeakers.
Known mainly for their large PA ranges, the MLA and Wavefront Precision, Martin Audio have released some great ranges for the installation and distributed audio markets. The CDD option we chose was the CDD5TX-WR – a weatherised two-way passive micro speaker incorporating a 70V/100V line transformer and designed for discreet positioning in architectural installations.
This is the smallest of the CDD series, and as you can see from the photos, it fits in perfectly on custom made bracketry attached to large wooden planters.
Fed from a QSC ISA amplifier as part of a larger distributed audio system, we utilised the 100v tappings which are a great addition to see on the new Martin Audio ranges.
Instantly recognisable as a brand of quality – we hope Chester Racecourse are as pleased as we are. Gates open tomorrow morning (8th May) for the start of their racing season – kicking off with the prestigious Boodles May Festival.
